This weekend's Cascade Challenge at Shelton Springs DGC lived up to its reputation and delivered one of the most technical and unforgiving tests of the season. Flat, wooded, and relentlessly tight, it punished impatience and rewarded players who stayed composed. Shelton Springs made its case to become a DGPT mainstay for years and years to come. Barela and Lizotte both tied the MPO course record at -9, while Missy's -10 final round set the new FPO standard. Efficiency and clean play ruled the fantasy board.
MPO Division
Anthony Barela delivered when it mattered most. After opening his final round with -5 through the first six holes, he stalled out in the middle third (a bogey and a double bogey included) before storming back to birdie holes 15 through 18, going -4 over the final third to finish at -20 and secure a two-stroke win. This marks Barela's fifth career DGPT victory — and his first of the 2025 season. He earned 157 Fantasy Points, leading all MPO scorers and delivering a long-awaited win for Pro Disc Fantasy managers.
Despite Barela's stellar play, the final round fireworks belonged to Simon Lizotte. After an early missed putt on hole 1, Simon was staring down a brutal 67-foot obstructed par putt on hole 3 — and hit it in the heart! That lit the fire. From there, he played bogey-free golf, including two of the most incredible putts we may see all year! A 105-foot birdie on hole 4 and a 115-foot birdie all-hyzer, no brakes putt from way out of position on hole 15. He kept pace with Barela all afternoon, and when he shanked a forehand on hole 17, a miracle tree kick redirected his gyro straight toward the basket and he converted the 25-footer to stay one back. Needing a birdie on 18 to tie, Simon's drive went early and left. After a tough layup left him about 130 out, his amazing fairway putting finally failed him and he was forced to watch Barela sink the birdie for the win.
Both Simon and AB tied the course record at -9, and the final round was nothing short of elite-level shot-making under pressure by both!
FPO Division
Missy Gannon was simply untouchable. She finished the event at -13, six strokes ahead of second-place Ohn Scoggins, and shattered the previous Shelton Springs course record with a bogey-free -10 final round. No one came close. Missy set the tone early, hitting two massive Circle 2 putts in the first seven holes, and never looked back. Her confidence and control through the woods was unmatched from the opening tee to the final tap-in.
She earned 134 Fantasy Points, the highest total in FPO and a reminder that she's a top-tier fantasy option any time she finds the groove on the putting green. After an uncharacteristic start to the DGPT season, one in which she admitted to playing zero competitive disc golf during the off season, Missy has not only found her swing but she is really pulling away from the field over the last 3 events. She has been nothing short of spectacular on all courses, in all weathers, against all comers. The undeniable Missy Gannon.
Other Standout Fantasy Performances
- Paige Pierce: 106 FP — her strongest showing in years. It's great to see her returning to form after a long recovery from injury.
- Simon Lizotte: 136 FP — electric final round and elite putting carried him to second place.
- Ricky Wysocki: 110 FP — solid from tee to green, and in control all weekend.
Weekend Surprises and Misses
- Gannon Buhr was never quite in rhythm on the putting green and hit only 78% of his C1x putts all weekend. Despite this, he still leads the field in Pro Disc Fantasy Points this season!
- Paul McBeth came on strong, finishing his final round with a then-course record of -8 before AB and Simon pushed that record to -9 about an hour later.
- Ohn Scoggins had the only other 1000+ rated round in the FPO division, behind Missy's 1035.
Notable Stats
Eagles – Hole 2
- Round 1: Anthony Barela, Calvin Lonnquist, Holyn Handley
- Round 2: Miles Sayer
- Round 3: Connor Rock
Ace – Hole 5 (Round 3)
- Victor Contreras — the only ace of the weekend.
Toughest Hole – Hole 12
- Only 16 total birdies were recorded across all rounds and both divisions.
Up Next: Konopiště Open
The tour now travels to Benešov, Czech Republic for the historic Konopiště Open, one of the most scenic and prestigious events in Europe. But take note — the field will be top-heavy, as many of the top American pros are staying stateside to prepare for the Northwest Disc Golf Championships, a DGPT+ 4-round event kicking off May 29 in Portland, Oregon.
That means your fantasy roster might need some adjustments. With fewer top U.S. players in the field, it's the perfect time to go hunting in the free agent pool for the best talent Europe has to offer. Expect major value from regional players and international up-and-comers who will get the spotlight this week.
Check your dashboard now for updated rosters and projections — it's going to be a week for the sharpest managers.
Good luck this weekend!
