Champions Cup Recap & Cascade Challenge Starts May 16!

Complete breakdown of Champions Cup results and preview of Cascade Challenge

Champions Cup Recap & Cascade Challenge Starts May 16!

The 2025 PDGA Champions Cup, presented by OTB & MVP Disc Sports, delivered everything you could want from the season's first Major β€” pressure-packed rounds, breakout performances, and fantasy point swings that changed the shape of the season.

In MPO, Isaac Robinson held his ground through a tightly contested final day to finish at -26, claiming his second Champions Cup title & fourth career Major. He stayed composed down the stretch and nailed a clutch 40-foot uphill putt on hole 17 to seal the win.

In FPO, Missy Gannon entered the final round with a three-stroke lead and pulled away when it counted. Despite a strong push from Kristin LΓ€tt, Missy stayed focused, finishing at -27 and capturing her second PDGA Major title with one of her best final rounds to date.

This also marked the first PDGA Major held in California since 2011, and Swenson Park didn't disappoint. With tight OB, water hazards, and massive distance requirements, the course tested every aspect of the game. And with 2x fantasy multipliers applied to all post-cut rounds, it turned fantasy results completely upside down.

🧨 Major Multiplier Mayhem

This was our first 2x multiplier event of the season β€” and it lived up to the hype:

  • Calvin Heimburg earned 140 points in one round
  • Isaac and AB racked up over half their event totals on Sunday
  • If your player played poorly on the final day or missed the cut β€” you definitely felt it

What do you think of the multiplier? We'd love to hear your feedback!

πŸ† Quick Recap – Champions Crowned

πŸ… Isaac Robinson: Now 4x Major winner, 2x Champions Cup champ & a fantasy force

πŸ… Missy Gannon: Controlled the pace, pulled away, and earned her 2nd PDGA Major title

πŸ“ Swenson Park – Long, punishing, and worthy of a Major. California's return to elite disc golf was a success.

Champions Cup Standout Fantasy Performances:

MPO Division:

The final round made all the difference β€” here's who cashed in:

πŸ₯‡ Isaac Robinson – 247 Fantasy Points (FP): 144 FP in final round β€” calm & clinical

πŸ₯ˆ Anthony Barela – 238 FP: 136 FP in final roundβ€” nearly chased Isaac down with a massive final round surge.

πŸ₯‰ Calvin Heimburg – 219 FP: 140 FP in final roundβ€” didn't podium IRL, but absolutely crushed fantasy with a monster finish.

πŸ” Andrew Marwede – 195 FP: 90 FP in final round β€” a low-key fantasy sleeper who delivered.

πŸ’ͺ Gannon Buhr – 192 FP: 96 FP in final round β€” another rock-solid performance for fantasy teams that keep betting on consistency.

FPO Division:

Final round pressure + 2x scoring = serious fantasy swings in FPO:

πŸ₯‡ Missy Gannon – 263 FP: 118 FP in final round β€” composed & unstoppable.

πŸ₯ˆ Kristin LΓ€tt – 233 FP: 114 FP in final round β€” made it close, and made fantasy managers very happy.

πŸ₯‰ Paige Pierce – 198 FP: 80 FP in final round β€” showed flashes of her peak form and delivered for rosters that stuck with her.

πŸ’ͺ Holyn Handley – 169 FP: 86 FP in final round β€” not her sharpest weekend, but still a solid finish for a fantasy cornerstone.

πŸ” Anniken Kristiansen Steen – 165 FP: 94 FP in final round β€” quietly one of the best rounds in FPO, and a huge reward for bold fantasy picks.

🌲 Cascade Challenge Starts Tomorrow! 🌲

We're heading deep into the woods this week β€” and we mean that literally. The DGPT rolls into the Pacific Northwest for the 2025 Cascade Challenge, set at the lush and punishing Shelton Springs Disc Golf Course in Shelton, WA. Known for its flat terrain, tight fairways, and unforgiving rough, this course demands clean angles, confident shot shaping, and relentless focus.

The MPO layout stretches a grueling 9,728 feet and plays as a par 64, rewarding players with powerful, accurate tee shots and punishing those who drift even a few feet off the line. The FPO field will take on a similarly demanding 8,201-foot layout at par 65, where placement and precision are everything.

While the layouts for 2025 are slightly modified, we can still look to the past for scoring expectations. The last two MPO winners at Shelton averaged between 9 and 10 under par per round, while the FPO champions each averaged between 3 and 4 under per round. Expect similar numbers this weekend β€” solid birdie golf, but far from effortless.

This is a woods course through and through. There's no elevation to bail you out or add variation β€” it's just you, your disc, and the line. Players who thrive in these conditions know how to shape the right shot and stay composed when things go sideways. You won't overpower Shelton Springs β€” you'll have to outsmart it.

Fantasy Outlook:

Expect scoring to dip across both divisions. The tight layout limits streak potential, and the unforgiving woods can erase birdie streaks with one poor tee shot. Fantasy managers should:

  • Prioritize consistency over ceiling.
  • Look for players with strong scramble and bogey-avoidance rates.
  • Be cautious about high-variance picks unless you're swinging for upside.

This is not a week to chase "highlight throwers." This is a survival week - off the fairway is lava.

MPO Players to Watch:

All eyes will be on the top-rated players in the field this week, and for good reason.

Niklas Anttila – The 2024 Cascade Challenge winner returns to familiar ground. Niklas has proven he can win in these exact conditions, and his calm demeanor makes him a serious threat to repeat.

Isaac Robinson – He thrives when conditions get tricky. Expect surgical precision and top-tier placement play from the reigning major champ.

Ezra Robinson – Ezra's season has been sneaky great. On a course like this, his balanced game and steady finishes could shine.

Paul McBeth – Still chasing that elusive first win of the season, but if anyone knows how to outthink a course, it's Paul. His flip-up game is tailor-made for the shot-shaping demands of Shelton.

Ricky Wysocki – The 2023 winner here and still the scramble king for a reason. If he's off the fairway (and everyone will be at some point), expect him to birdie anyway β€” all weekend long.

Sneaky Picks:

Austin Turner – This course lines up nice for a dual-threat lefty and Austin is quietly putting together a career season. This course could suit him.

Andrew Presnell – The fantasy workhorse. Low-key one of the most reliable scorers on tour, and always a factor on tight, wooded layouts.

FPO Players to Watch:

Holyn Handley – The FPO fantasy queen so far. Her power and poise make her a threat anywhere, and her control keeps her on top.

Missy Gannon – Just won a Major and has the kind of placement-first mindset that fits this course like a glove.

Ohn Scoggins – If putting wins tournaments, then Ohn is always in the conversation β€” and that's doubly true on a course like Shelton Springs.

Sneaky Picks:

Anniken Kristiansen Steen – Her final round at the Champions Cup showed what she's capable of. Don't be surprised to see her in the top 10 again.

Hanna Huynh – Trending up quietly. Known for her focus and precision, she could be a great low-ownership fantasy play this week.
