Ale Open Recap: Silva Stuns & Niklas Closes

Complete breakdown of Ale Open results and preview of Preserve Championship

The Ale Open Recap: Silva Saarinen Stuns & Niklas Anttila Closes

The Ale Open presented by Discraft delivered a shake-up in both divisions, thanks to a course that demanded precision and punished mistakes. The Ale Disc Golf Center, a tight, wooded layout, produced only three bogey-free rounds all weekend — a setting built for drama, and both divisions delivered.

🏆 FPO Highlight: Silva Breaks Through

The story of the weekend was Silva Saarinen, who finally got the better of Kristin Lätt after years of chasing. Entering this event, Silva was 1–28 all-time against Kristin in events they've both played. The lone previous finish ahead of Kristin came at last year's Champions Cup, where Kristin posted an uncharacteristic 958-rated final round and effectively beat herself.

This time was different.

Silva started Day 2 seven strokes behind Kristin and still trailed entering the final round. But she made no compounding mistakes, while Kristin made mistake after mistake. This time Silva earned the win outright after finishing -11 for the event. It marks a defining moment for the young Finn — not just a win, but a win over the most dominant player in recent FPO history.

A full editorial on Silva's breakout will be dropping soon in The Drop Zone. Keep a lookout.

FPO Fantasy Recap:

A quick reminder that the Ale Disc Golf Center — like many European swing events — forces FPO to use the same tee pads and pin positions as MPO. While this setup can offer exciting parity, it often leads to lower fantasy scores for the FPO field due to course length.

Silva Saarinen was relentless. After starting day 2 seven strokes behind Kristin Lätt, Silva stormed back with two excellent rounds to finish at -11 and finally get the win — her first ever over Kristin in 29 head-to-head events. Her 140 FP weekend puts her firmly in the top tier of fantasy options going forward.

Kristin Lätt finished with 115 FP. She opened with a -5 but some mental errors cost her the win. Still, another podium and another solid fantasy week.

Rachel Turton bounced back from a +3 in round 1 to lock in third place and finish with 72 FP. Her up-and-down style makes her a fun watch and a risky but rewarding fantasy option.

Iida Lehtomäki, the 15-year-old Finnish prodigy, earned 62 FP after a great bounce-back from a +2 opening round. Her future is bright — and her presence is already being felt in fantasy leagues.

Anniken Kristiansen Steen was steady all weekend and her consistency paid off with 59 FP and another top-5 fantasy finish.

🏆 MPO Highlight: Niklas Overcomes Ricky

In MPO, it was a showdown between two heavyweights — Niklas Anttila and Ricky Wysocki — with Niklas coming from three back to win it all on the final day. The wooded, technical nature of Ale made mistakes costly, and Niklas kept his composure while Ricky blinked. The win is a great bounce back after finishing in 16th at Konopiste two weeks ago.

MPO Fantasy Recap:

Niklas Anttila claimed his third DGPT win of the season, finishing at -25 and racking up 158 FP. He played poised, consistent golf all weekend, coming back from three strokes down on the final day to take the win.

Ricky Wysocki kept it exciting with his signature scramble game. His 154 FP came with a mix of birdies, bogeys, and brilliant par saves from impossible spots — classic Ricky.

Lauri Lehtinen stormed back after an opening round +1 with back-to-back hot rounds of -9 and -12 to finish third. He earned 134 FP on the weekend — the best return of any player over the final 36 holes.

Daniel Davidsson looked like a favorite to win midway through round two, but putting woes crept in down the stretch. Still, his power and early consistency earned him 120 FP and another strong showing.

Peter Lunde rounds out the top five with 118 FP, thanks to some of the cleanest golf of the event — just four bogeys all weekend and steady scoring from start to finish.

Event Surprises: Aces and Young Guns

Julia Fors, a 13-year-old phenom from Sweden, lit up the Ale Open with a remarkable -4 in round one, putting her on the FPO lead card for day two. An incredible moment and one of the brightest highlights of the weekend.

Hole 8 was the fireworks hole this weekend, delivering two aces:

Eric Oakley, a popular fantasy sleeper pick, gave his owners a surprise bonus with a perfect shot.

Øyvind Jarnes also delivered a hole-in-one, giving his fantasy value a big spike in just one throw.

It was a weekend full of momentum swings, standout performances, and flashes of brilliance from players across the board.
